Ultra-Wideband
Through our UWB developments TRDA and Taiyo Yuden have created a range of UWB solutions (modules and components) which deliver the high-performance low-power solutions that handset designers, manufacturers and consumers demand. UWB uniquely enables handsets to support the ever growing demands of a wide range of multimedia applications, in ever shrinking packages—which is no small feat!
As a member of the WiMedia Alliance, TRDA strongly supports their efforts to meet these challenges via the UWB Common Radio Platform. This platform, based on multi-band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM), enables UWB to deliver transfer rates of 480 Mb/s, or greater, at distances of up to 10 meters between WPAN devices.

Bluetooth
Bluetooth has set the standard for small, inexpensive radio chips that can connect mobile phones, computers, printers, keyboards remote controls and myriad of other devices-wirelessly. Conceived by Ericsson, it can easily be thought of as a cable replacement technology, simplifying connections among many devices, but it has the promise of becoming so much more. With low-power consumption and low-cost, Bluetooth has become a ubiquitous standard, with well over 5 million Bluetooth enabled devices being produced each week. TRDA and our parent company Taiyo Yuden, a leading supplier of Bluetooth modules, wish to further that success and are proud members of the Bluetooth SIG.
High-Frequency Wireless Components
While TRDA’s main focus is the realization of wireless technologies in the form of modules for handsets, we also support and cooperate with our parent company, Taiyo Yuden, in their High-Frequency Passive Component development. By leveraging their superior materials expertise Taiyo Yuden has become a leader in developing high-performance, space-conscious, cost-effective high-frequency modules and components for handset manufacturers. Their solutions for Bluetooth, UWB, and WiMAX, among others, enable TRDA and handset manufacturers the world over to enable ultra-compact form factors, functionality, reliability—while adding value to their wireless designs and products.

Mobile WiMAX - 802.16e
Mobile WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) IEEE 802.16e is revolutionizing mobile broadband. Imagine no longer being limited by cables or hotspots, mobile WiMAX frees your handset or PC by delivering seamless mobile broadband service across MANs (metropolitan area networks) and beyond. The vision of mobile WiMAX promises an always on mobile broadband experience wherever you go whenever you want! Take the power of the internet with you—anytime, anywhere!
As a member of the WiMAX Forum TRDA, along with Taiyo Yuden, are developing a full range of WiMAX module solutions (full modules, RF modules, FE modules) and components (antennas, filters, and baluns) to meet the needs of handset designers and manufacturers around the world.
Software Defined Radio
As wireless technologies and standards continue to proliferate and the demand for integrated, feature-rich, multimedia devices continues to grow, we are confronted with many questions. Which technology will emerge? Can they coexist? How can consumers, developers and manufacturers ever make sense of it all? Well, to many of these questions SDR (Software Defined Radio) could well hold the answers and serve as the lynchpin to their harmonious coexistence—all in a single device!
SDR’s strength lies in its flexibility. Thanks to a multitude of enabling hardware and software, SDR enables the use of reconfigurable system architectures for wireless networks, user terminals and handsets. This malleability fosters the realization of relatively inexpensive, multi-mode, multi-band, multi-functional wireless devices that can be easily enhanced via software. In other words, a core group of hardware that can be "reconfigured"—on the go—to enable a wide array of functions and technologies to coexist on one device.
